Steamy Kitchen Update

  Hello {NAME}! Happy Wednesday (night)! How are you, my friend? 1. oooooooohhhh...I'm so excited!!! Last week I mentioned that I commissioned a local professional tailor to produce 3,000 face masks. THREE THOUSAND. Why? I got tired of seeing ads for sub-par face masks that were made in a Chinese factory. I'm not anti-Chinese (hey, I'm Chinese, born in Hong Kong...and I've been an American citizen since I was an itty bitty kid), but I strongly believe in supporting American craftsmen and women. And I definitely believe in American-made essentials....  ....like the face masks that are vital to the safety of not only our front line workers, but also sales clerks, waitresses, my neighbors, teachers, children...me...and you. We made many face mask prototypes, and decided to create one that was 2-layer cotton, with adjustable elastic, and a filter pocket. We're also including 2 filters. These masks are made in Las Vegas, Nevada, by Mr. Saruni, who has owned textile factories in NY, Los Angeles and Las Vegas, beginning in the 1970's. His factory used to produce millions of garments for Macy's, Nordstom's, Neiman Marcus, Sak's and uniforms for casinos in town. He had to shut his factory because the casinos and retailers were buying cheaper from China. Mr. Saruni is retired now, but he and his wife believe in American made. They fired up their machinery to cut, sew, press face masks for us. The fabric is even American made. We sourced our 100% cotton fabric from a textile manufacturer in California. Next week, I'll introduce you to Denise, who is our very talented decorator. Our masks are decorated with beautiful USA themed designs. Here's what the mask looks like and one of the designs that will be heat-pressed onto the mask. You'll be the first to know when we have them ready for sale. I'm so proud of them. Right in the middle of the pier, a big fat stinky puddle, in front of a park warden!!! UGH. Embarrassing (and smelly) haha! [Thai Iced Coffee]( 2. Add this thai spin to your next morning brew! This recipe for Thai Iced Coffee is sweet, creamy , refreshing and has hints of cardamom and almond! Try grounding your own cardamom for a bold and warm flavor.
