I believed that in order to make more money, you needed to work harder. "How do we structure our coaching business and life and how do we determine where our money goes if we want to have more freedom?" This is what my incredible clients Joa and Shan asked me inside my Influential Coach program. And this question really hit home with me. Because for the longest time, I believed that in order to make more money, you needed to work harder. I believed in the "hustle" mentality in my early years building Addicted2success. I believed that if I didn’t push as hard as possible, my business wouldn't grow.  I said to myself that I could only have the lifestyle that I want five years from now only if I make a certain amount.   In other words, I was building my lifestyle around my business. And there was one moment in my life where I realized that this was NOT the way I should be running my business. Years ago, I was on a train with my girlfriend at the time. As soon as my butt was on the seat and my laptop was open, nothing else mattered for me. Not the motion of the train as it started to glide along the rails. Not the passengers that were taking their seats. Not even my girlfriend who was sitting right next to me. All that mattered was the work that I had to finish on my laptop screen. I was laser-focused, my hands typing away on the keyboard at a frenzy. There was no stopping me.  Time passed by. I didn’t realize it but the train was overlooking the majestic view of the iconic mountain ranges and green trees of the Swiss Alps. For years, I had wanted to visit the Swiss Alps. I had pictures of it on my vision board. But at that moment where the passengers were mesmerized by the view… I was still laser focused with no awareness of what was going on outside my laptop screen.   My girlfriend right then and there punched my arm and scolded me for missing out on a piece of the beautiful location that I had dreamed of visiting for years. My vision board became a reality but I was too ignorant to enjoy it And that was the moment I realized that I had become a slave to my business. From that day forward, I decided that my business was going to be built around my lifestyle, not the other way around. And that’s the way it should be. Sure, if you’re just getting started, then you’ll need to spend quality time building up your coaching business first.  Like you’re a parent giving birth to a baby. But eventually that baby learns to walk with their own two legs. Then they grow up, learning to take care of themselves. And you as the parent will need to learn to let them go and not hold them too tightly. Addicted2Success today has its own legs. It's a machine that does its thing. I don’t post on it, I don't write on it anymore. I have guest contributors and workers making it bigger. They never bother me and we’re always in super production mode. I set up my business in this way because freedom to me is an asset. It’s why I’ve travelled to one third of the world... And lived in many different Airbnbs in places like South East Asia, Switzerland, France, etc. It’s also why I haven’t bought a house yet. Some people may say, "oh that’s stupid that he doesn’t own a house". But there are people who own a house and have been spending 20 to 25 years paying it off. I’m thinking of buying some land here in Bali but only when I’m ready. The big thing here is to have clarity on what kind of lifestyle you want to live. And then as you grow, you build your business around that lifestyle. What good is it to have a business that is supposed to give you freedom but it becomes a prison instead? That’s it from me. Hope you have an amazing week ahead. There's nothing more relaxing and powerful than meditating to the word of God. I love to listen to relaxing tapes on my phone. It always helps me to unplug when I’ve been going super hard. If there is no enemy within then the enemy outside shall do no harm. God Bless! . .
