my top 3 takeaways from 1m/mo+ consultants

My brain = melted in the best way possible. Just got back from Nashville where Taylor Welch and Blake Wyatt put on a hell of a workshop around customer acquisition... with 50 of the sharpest experts and consultants in the room. In the 2 days I was there... I met a marketing consultant for specialist doctors who gets paid $150k/year per client... A 23-year old copywriting stud who's worked with clients like Jordan Belfort, Mike Tyson, and Alex Jones... A lead generation expert who runs two of the largest sites in the mortgage and real estate space... A father-son duo who run an info-publishing biz helping people train their dogs... A consultant who's a local celeb in his home country of Romania... ...and mucho more. I've invested around $200k into masterminds, coaching, courses, events, and learning. It's tough for me to find 'info' I don't already know. But this event was different. There were bambs dropped I've never heard anywhere else. I have pages of notes, new frameworks, strategies, ideas, and tactics that I can't share since I signed an NDA... But I can share some of my top takeaways. Here were 3 big ones for me... 1. Product focus > lead gen focus. Many of the current acquisition models focus on lead gen. - send traffic to opt-in page - get their email and phone - send to a VSL/webinar - have sales team hammer them with calls, texts, emails, and follow-up until they buy or say to pound sand Sure, this still works. But it often brings on a reluctant, colder customer. Someone who is much less likely to stay on for the long-term. And much more likely to be unhappy+refund. When you lead with a world-class product that helps a specific person get a specific result? You'll get customers instead of leads. Customers who are happy to upgrade to a client in your premium offers because their first experience was so good. I already have a few of my own Appetizer products... But this event put it into a whole new perspective... esp when it comes to colder audiences. 2. Compliance will be your competitive advantage. People are getting sick of the wild and unbelievable claims. The ones that promise stuff like "build a 6-figure passive income biz in 30 days just doing this ONE thing!" FTC is starting to crack down hard on them too. Any claims you make or are in your testimonials will need to be real with receipts. This is a GOOD thing because it clears out the bad actors while making room for the legit ones. It also forces you to focus on the customer/client results over everything else. Only say what you know to be realistic and true. This is how you get and STAY successful in the long run. 3. Relationship acquisition > customer acquisition. Everyone wants that first sale. But what's the point in getting a customer if they only ever buy once? If they only buy once you will ALWAYS need to be generating new customers in mass. Unsustainable. Building a relationship with your customers is how you get them to stick around for years. The purpose of having a front-end product is to get a customer. Then delight them so much with it that buying from you again is a no brainer. Everything from the product... to the offer... to the advertising/marketing... to the sale... to the delivery... and the follow-up is to build the relationship with the customer so they stay on for the long haul. So that YOU become the only logical next step for them. It's not a race to get a customer anymore. It's a race to the relationship so they stay with you for life. 2023 is gonna be badazz y'all.
