But all hope is not yet lost... Editor's Note: Occasionally, an opportunity comes to our attention that we believe readers like you will find valuable. The message below from one of our partners is one we believe you should take a close look at. --------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Reader, I love ancient Roman history. The moment I read about how Julius Caesar toppled the Roman Republic, fell in love with Cleopatra and then was stabbed by his friends in the Senate, I was hooked. I was in my 20's back then. By the time I got to my 40's, my attention shifted from the soap opera of it all to why the Roman Empire collapsed in 476 AD. Historians love to debate the "why." We could debate this issue for hours over dinner. But most believe the Roman Empire collapsed because Rome was confronted by two powerful enemies at the same time: Germany and Persia. I used to believe that too. But I don't anymore. What changed? I look around and see an entire generation of "elite" college kids who were taught to hate our country. They were taught to view everything through the lens of oppressor and oppressed. Therefore, they believe the United States is inherently "bad" because it oppressed Native Americans, blacks, gays, etc, who are inherently "good." This simple victim narrative gives them what they think is the moral high ground. That's why they zealously want to tear down statues of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and even Abraham Lincoln. All because they represent a "bad" country. They don't read the Declaration of Independence and weep at the writing, "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal; they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." They just think Thomas Jefferson is "bad" because he owned slaves. They can't see that Jefferson was just a man of his times. Or that he was conflicted about owning slaves. To them, he's just a hypocrite. And they certainly don't understand that those simple words have been a North Star for this country. And it has always guided us to equality for all. What does this have to do with the collapse of the Roman Empire? The Roman Empire didn't collapse because they had two new and powerful enemies. The Roman Empire collapsed because Romans stopped believing in it. They stopped believing it was a force for good in the world. And once they stopped believing, they stopped fighting to defend it. The same thing is happening here. Like Rome, we have an entire generation of kids who no longer believe. And it's happening at exactly the wrong time for the United States: right as we face a resurgent China and Russia. The scary thing is that I've talked to two of these non-believers recently. I wanted to understand the kind of crazy we were dealing with. Here's what I learned... They don't care if China takes over the world. They don't care if China controls who we elect or forces us to buy their phones or censor what they want us to censor. They don't even care if Chinese ships are allowed to patrol the U.S. coastline. All they know is that China is "good" because they were oppressed by Western powers for the last 100 years. This woke child mob wants to tear this whole place down. It's cultural nihilism plain and simple. I walked away thinking that we're in the first innings of what will likely be a long battle for the soul of this country. But all hope is not yet lost... In the beginning of my "conversation" with these kids, I just listened. But then I told them that on February 22, 2023, China launched an attack against the heart of the U.S. financial system. I explained to them that [this attack]( could quite literally send their grandparents into poverty. At the time, they both scoffed at me. But one of the kids who watched [this video]( texted me later and said he wanted to know more. My first thought was, "Thank the good Lord! All hope is not lost." My second thought was, "One down. Ten million more to go." [Here's the video they watched.]( "The Buck Stops Here."
