Greg Abbott was counting dollars while they were counting bodies. {NAME}, It is more clear than ever

Greg Abbott was counting dollars while they were counting bodies. {NAME}, It is more clear than ever that if we care about protecting the lives of our fellow Texans, if we want every child in this state to be healthy and happy, if we want to safeguard those who are closest to us from violent crime and gun violence, then we must overcome and defeat Greg Abbott. After each mass shooting in Texas, he has promised solutions but provided none. In fact, he’s made it easier for violent criminals to carry guns on our streets and set the stage for more tragedies like Uvalde, Midland-Odessa, El Paso, Santa Fe and Sutherland Springs. And if anyone still gave him the benefit of the doubt, he cleared that up Tuesday night when he read the details of the school shooting to the press like he was reading the weather forecast and then, instead of traveling the 245 miles to Uvalde to be with grieving families, he chose to travel 300 miles in the opposite direction to a fundraiser. He was literally counting dollars while first responders in Uvalde were counting bodies. Who does that? Who responds to gun violence by making it easier to carry guns in Texas without a background check? Who shows up to a press conference feigning concern for the victims only after stuffing his pockets with campaign cash, and then proposes no solutions to help prevent the next tragedy? It’s the exact same guy who bans women from making their own health care decisions in a state with one of the highest rates of maternal mortality in the developed world, and sets a $10,000 bounty on the back of any Texan who helps any woman seek an abortion. It’s the same person who does nothing after being told repeatedly by a Federal judge that his Child Protective Services is understaffed and unaccountable, and that children emerge from the foster care system “more damaged than when they entered.” Over 100 Texas kids have died in Abbott’s child welfare system since 2020. Instead of fixing it, he’d rather try to scare you about transgender kids and prosecute their loving parents. It’s the same governor who couldn’t keep the lights on or the heat running in the energy capital of the world, causing more than 700 Texans — including children — to die because he cared more about his donors’ profits than about fixing the grid after being warned it could fail. We must overcome his cruelty, incompetence and corruption if we are going to save lives and allow our children to live without the constant fear of being murdered in their schools, supermarkets, and places of worship; or be left to fend for themselves in a foster care system that has gone from bad to worse on his watch. We overcome that by beating Greg Abbott in November. [Help me by ensuring we have the resources to reach every Texas voter and ensure they know the cost and consequence of keeping Abbott in office, and our opportunity to choose a better future for ourselves and our kids.
