My favorite thing about taking online courses is... [image] From Nathalie Hi {NAME}, My favorite thing about taking online courses? Seeing what works well so I can share it with you. I'm currently taking a writing course and my favorite thing about it is: It's completely self-aware. For some of the heavier modules and lessons, the instructor tells you that you might get overwhelmed. They recommend taking a step away from the course, chunking the content, and coming back to it. I secretly believe that the reason most people don't finish online courses is because they get overwhelmed. It's normal to get overwhelmed with a lot of new info. So the more you can address the feeling (and reality!) of overwhelm directly in your courses, the better. You can drip your course content over time, so the whole thing isn't available on day one. (This course does that, too.) You can also just call it out and give people ways to keep going through the course, even if they encounter overwhelm. It helps if you ask for feedback from your students, so you'll know which sections are especially tricky for them. Then make some tweaks and see if your course lands better! [image] Momentum Tip #16 We focus a lot on building momentum in our business and work... But sometimes that comes at the expense of our health or wellbeing. I've learned the hard way that pushing myself to get results can feel good at first... but can also lead to unsustainable workaholism. My friend Susan Boles talks about "calm being a KPI" and how building your business to reduce emergencies and stress can be so much better for us. Take stock of how you're currently working: does it feel like something you can keep up for years to come? Or are you pushing so hard that you might hit a wall soon? I'm all for seasons of business, some of them are a little more intense, but don't get into a pattern where there isn't rest or recovery built in. I'm rooting for your momentum - and not just in the short term, but for years to come!
