The series of incidents unfolded within close proximity, terrifying residents in the area. The crime spree began at 4:51 a.m. on Newville Avenue when a woman reported a man, later identified as 33-year-old Richard Goff, attempting to break down her front door. The woman, alerted by her Ring doorbell, witnessed Goff shattering the front door while demanding her car keys. Her boyfriend joined the struggle to keep the door closed, and Goff eventually fled the scene. However, during the altercation, he damaged the woman's vehicle. Approximately 15 minutes later, a Vivint mobile security officer patrolling nearby reported a break-in at a residence on Treadway Lane. He found the front door wide open and items scattered outside. Upon hearing noises inside, he retreated to his vehicle and called 911. A man emerged from the house, threatening the officer, claiming he was robbing the residence. An additional incident occurred at 6:45 a.m. when another man encountered Goff in his kitchen. Goff allegedly brandished a large butcher knife and demanded car keys. The victim managed to escape, alerting the police about the dangerous intruder. When officers arrived and confronted Goff, he refused to drop the knife. The police K-9, Raider, was deployed, resulting in Goff stabbing the canine. Officers then used tasers to apprehend him. Richard Goff now faces multiple charges, including residential burglary, assault on a protected person, injuring a police animal, home invasion, kidnapping, resisting a public officer, and burglary of a motor vehicle. His next court appearance is scheduled for Thursday. As for K-9 Raider, he was swiftly taken to a veterinarian clinic and underwent surgery for a significant stab wound to his back. As of Wednesday, Raider is in stable condition and recovering from his injuries.
