The Phoenix Police Department responded to a call from a residential area near 107th Avenue and Camelback Road at approximately 8 a.m. on September 3. Upon arrival, they discovered 15-year-old Giaginette Brown suffering from a gunshot wound. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries before she could be transported to a hospital. According to investigators, Brown was in her bed when the shooting occurred between midnight and 3 a.m. The police believe that the house was specifically targeted in the shooting. Sgt. Rob Scherer stated that at least one of the numerous bullets that penetrated the house hit the young victim. Residents of the neighborhood reported hearing what they believed to be gunshots, followed by some disturbance. Logan Reynolds, a 19-year-old neighbor who lives across the street, expressed his concern about the increasing crime rate in the area. He and his brother were outside their house when they heard the gunshots. Reynolds shared his fear about the safety of his neighborhood, especially for his young nieces and nephews who often play outside. Another resident, Robert Porter, also reported hearing the gunshots. He described the sound as five consecutive shots. He expressed his sadness about the incident, stating that it was a distressing feeling to know that such a tragic event had occurred in his community. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and the police are working diligently to bring the perpetrator to justice.
