Shalawrae recounted the horrifying moment she found her husband lying in a puddle of blood. Gilmore was immediately rushed to UPMC Mercy Hospital, where he is now reportedly in critical but stable condition. Shalawrae, who is pregnant, expressed hope for his recovery. The alleged attacker, Calhoun, was arrested on Smithfield Street shortly after the assault. According to court records, video surveillance from inside the hotel captured Calhoun approaching Gilmore from behind near the elevators and placing him in a chokehold. The footage further revealed that Calhoun repeatedly slammed Gilmore’s head into the ground, kicked and stomped on him, and stole several items, including his pants. Calhoun claimed that Gilmore had made offensive remarks, which led to the altercation. However, the motive behind the attack remains under investigation. Calhoun, who was homeless at the time of his arrest, is currently held at the Allegheny County Jail on charges of attempted homicide. He also faces charges of aggravated assault, robbery, and recklessly endangering another person.
