The local police have confirmed that all the victims are expected to survive. Authorities believe the attack was a random act of violence. The suspect was later shot and killed by a police officer. According to Assistant Chief Darren Francke of the Montgomery County Police, a total of four people were stabbed in the incident, including three women and one male. Two of the women sustained stab wounds to their necks. The first stabbing was reported at a thrift store in Aspen Hill at 10:36 a.m. Shortly after, another call came in reporting a stabbing in the 4100 block of Colie Drive, where two women were attacked. Responding officers discovered an adult male with superficial injuries at the same location. Upon receiving information that the suspect had fled into the nearby woods, the police established a perimeter and initiated a search. However, the suspect unexpectedly emerged from the woods and confronted a police cruiser. The officer in the cruiser immediately called for backup. Another officer arrived at the scene and noticed that the suspect was armed with a 12-inch butcher knife. The officer issued commands to the suspect, but unfortunately, an officer-involved shooting occurred. According to Francke, the suspect lunged towards the officer, prompting the officer to fire multiple rounds. The suspect was stopped from further attacking anyone, but he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Authorities are now conducting investigations into both the stabbings and the officer-involved shooting. Despite one of the stabbing victims sustaining significant, life-threatening injuries, the hospital has informed authorities that they believe all the victims will survive.
