: This will be a profoundly serious discussion. I’m going to share a sincere belief system that I hold. It’s this… People are where they are at in their lives, careers, finances, relationships, and health BECAUSE deep down that’s where they want to be. Otherwise, they would do what’s necessary, do what it takes, change their strategy, alter their beliefs, immerse themselves in learning higher and better thinking actions and transactions to achieve the expressed goals they claim they desire. So think about this... If you don’t like your body (other than birth defects you can’t change) you CAN with commitment, discipline and perseverance do something monumental to change that problem. Don’t like your job? Get retrained, learn greater performance enhancement skills, change careers. Don’t like your marriage? Work on it. Go to couples therapy, separate. Improve yourself as a partner, friend. Lover. Or... get a divorce. Here comes the painful one... Don’t like where your business is? Guess what? Become a better marketer. Become a better strategist. Become a more formidable and competent competitor. Learn to advertise better, lead generate better, sell better. Set up partnerships and Joint Ventures. Buy competitive and complementary businesses. Train with people who can teach you greater ways to grow more buyers, more profitable buyers, more repeat buyers, more referral buyers, more ways to source and sell buyers, more products and services to sell them. Don’t think your business is capable of generating the levels of success, profit, income and wealth you’re after? Then go into a different business. I mean, geez, you have free will — unless you are a Skinnerian. (Look it up.) You have the ability and capability to change your reality — as Tony Robbins so often reminds us — in, literally, a heartbeat. I tire of hearing business owner after business owner who claim to want to dramatically attain far more success and prosperity — only to watch them contemplate, procrastinate, equivocate and outright play-act at attaining real superb growth. I watch people attend training programs then go right back home to their status quo existence. I see them sign up for training programs only to decide at the last minute their schedules are too important watching Netflix or checking emails to follow through and show up, or stay. We don’t even let people make public comments in the chat section when I do high-level, Zoom-based training(s). Why? Because those are the people trying to get noticed rather than paying keen attention to the expert content being shared. I constantly go back to the Woody Allen quote that “90% of life is showing up.” I think that the ultimate reality check, a man or woman, owner or employee, father or son, husband or wife can do — is a self-assessment of whether or not they are speaking and thinking with what the Indians say is “a forked tongue”. We say one thing. But so often our actions and conduct belies those statements. Look, I’m not the one who has to live your life — obviously, YOU are. I’m not the one who has to suffer the quiet desperation and lonely hopelessness of aspiring but never achieving, of hoping but never doing. Or wanting but never really going after something full-out. I hurt for those who can’t see themselves truthfully, accurately, and continuously believe and delude themselves into thinking that their problem is external rather than within. “Your beliefs drive your behaviors, your behaviors drive your results.” That’s Tony Robbins, again. How congruent ARE YOUR beliefs and behaviors to your espoused goals? So, what’s the bottom line here? Probably not what you think. Because guess what? I’m not trying to sell you anything of mine here. No, this is my version of a life intervention. Call it my wake-up call to shake and shock, and move you into a higher order of doing, seeing, achieving. I’m trying to only sell you on one thing: yourself and your unimaginable latent capability to be anything AND everything you want. To achieve all you can believe and perceive. To utterly and unimaginably change any part of your life — far, far, far for the better. If you want it badly enough to do something continually (not just superficially,) to make monumental changes happen — and sustain, you CAN do it! You really can. Someone I greatly admire in the seminar world — a highly ethical man who’s a fabulous human being in his own right once said to me: “Jay, most people who buy books, attend seminars, take courses, hire consultants think that performing that superficial action is the commitment. But it’s not. All it is is the preparation.” What you do with that knowledge, where you take those newfound realizations, whether they are relegated in your mind to nothing more than intellectual entertainment or transformed into virtual “mental nitro” that powers the high-performance engine of your personal transformation — that decision is yours, entirely. I’ll conclude with a story. I haven’t shared it in two decades. Two young nasty Indian braves wanted to do something bad to discredit the tribe’s venerable and revered medicine man. So they concocted a diabolical plan. They’d take a live bird and hold it behind their back while asking the medicine man to tell them whether the bird was alive or dead. If he said “alive”, they’d snap its head to prove the medicine man wrong. If he said “dead”, he’d obviously be wrong. In their mind, the medicine man was sure to lose. But when they asked him whether the bird was alive or dead, the medicine man answered simply with this statement… “The answer lies entirely in YOUR hands.” I think that pretty much sums up the long message of today.
