With so much on the line in November, If there’s one thing you need to know about me, it’s

With so much on the line in November, If there’s one thing you need to know about me, it’s this: I’ll always put our community first and never stop fighting for us. My story begins right here — in Loudon County — in 1979. A few years before I was born, my mother, a native of Bengaluru, India, immigrated to the United States to unite with my father and pursue a career in medicine. My mom came through Dulles Airport — our family’s “Ellis Island.” [Picture of Suhas' family]( My parents taught me early on how important serving your community is. And at every stage of my life, I’ve felt called to action. I attended college in New Orleans — and when Hurricane Katrina hit, I helped organize volunteers on campus to rebuild. A few years later, I worked with the Center for Wrongful Convictions to free a man wrongfully convicted and imprisoned for 21 years. On Capitol Hill, as a policy aide, I helped craft the DREAM Act and the Affordable Care Act and build coalitions in support of these critical bills. And I went on to serve as a policy advisor to President Obama in the White House. In Richmond, I’ve: ✔️ Taken on Big Pharma, capped prescription drug costs, and fought for medical billing transparency. ✔️ Stopped predatory utility rate and toll increases. ✔️ Protected abortion rights and fought gun violence. With so much on the line in November, If there’s one thing you need to know about me, it’s this: I’ll always put our community first and never stop fighting for us.
