# I just wrapped up an appearance on MSNBC's The Last Word With Lawrence O'Donnell where I discussed how, after national Republicans tried and failed twice to kick me off the ballot, I'm more resolved than ever to defeat Sen. Chuck Grassley (R) here in Iowa. This win is so crucial for expanding Democratic Senate control – but it's also about standing up for our democracy. You see, Republicans have taken to attacking our election process from multiple vantage points – which is an attack on the very foundation of our democracy. In Iowa, they tried to kick me off the ballot. Across the country, they've passed voter suppression into law. In the U.S. Senate, so-called leaders like Chuck Grassley defend the former president's attempts to use his DOJ to overturn the 2020 election results.
