# {NAME}: These past couple of weeks, I've been thinking a lot about Sens. Sinema and Manchin's infuriating decision to block voting rights legislation and uphold the filibuster. I am deeply frustrated and disappointed by their actions – but truthfully, this goes much deeper than either of them. Let's be honest with ourselves here: The Senate is broken, plain and simple. When I served in the House, I watched as countless bipartisan bills that would move our country forward died in the McConnell-led Senate time and time again. Now, Democrats technically have control, but the GOP is actively exploiting the filibuster to block legislation that would protect our most fundamental, cherished right – the right to vote. Republicans have made it abundantly clear that they'd rather cling to power than work with Democrats to defend the rights of the American people or fight for working families – and that's the line in the sand for me. When people in power stop working to better the lives of the constituents who elected them, and instead focus only on their political fortunes, that's when we know it's time for change – and that starts with electing new leaders. I'm sick and tired of having our entire Democratic agenda blocked by far-right extremists like my opponent Sen. Grassley (R-IA). But now that Sen. Grassley is facing record-low approval ratings, we've got a real chance to change things and expand our Senate majority by electing me right here in Iowa. {NAME}, you have my word: Send me to the Senate, and I will vote to get rid of the filibuster. I'll fight tooth and nail to protect voting rights, raise the federal minimum wage and pass the PRO Act in order to strengthen workers' rights and our unions. I'm doing everything within my power to defeat Sen. Grassley and move our country forward, I just need you with me. [So please, can you donate $5 right now to defeat Sen. Grassley, expand our Senate majority and pass critical legislation to move our country forward?]( I know that pushing for change and going up against people like Sen. Grassley can be frustrating and hard, so thank you so much for standing with me and fighting today. – Abby This email was sent to {EMAIL}. To receive fewer emails, please click [here](.
