# {NAME}: In a week when many of us will be sitting around kitchen tables with our families, I’m reminded of my own seat at my grandparents' kitchen table that shaped me, from a very early age. My upbringing is important to why I'm running to defeat Sen. Grassley (R-IA), so I hope you'll allow me a moment to explain. Like many of you, I come from a family with a wide range of political beliefs. I had a Democratic grandfather, a Republican uncle, a Democratic uncle and plenty of family members who found themselves somewhere in between the two parties (or totally sick of them both!). But still, we'd come together around the dinner table as a family to talk about what was going on in the world. We got into heated debates – but we'd always end the night with hugs and an "I love you." Now, I'm fighting for my seat at the table once again – this time to raise up the voices of working families like my own. You see, my opponent, Sen. Grassley (R-IA), failed those families. He's turned his back on Iowans, defended Donald Trump's dangerous conspiracy theories, eagerly accepted Trump's endorsement and advanced far-right ideologies that are just plain wrong. It's time for new leadership – and 64% of Iowans agree with me. Some people will tell me that it's not my place to challenge a man who's been a senator since before I was born, but my family taught me otherwise. [So please, {NAME}, I'm counting on you to help me win a seat at the table. That's why I'm asking you to donate $5 – or whatever you can spare – to help me defeat Sen. Grassley, protect our Senate majority and fight for for working families.]( [CONTRIBUTE]( Thank you for being by my side in this fight. – Abby This email was sent to {EMAIL}.
