“The kind of people who'll hang a white man for murdering an Indian--that's the kind of people

“The kind of people who'll hang a white man for murdering an Indian--that's the kind of people for me.” [The Wiggin Sessions] November 05, 2022 [WEBSITE]( | [UNSUBSCRIBE]( The City of Indians “Indianapolis, Indiana is the first place in the United States of America where a white man was hanged for the murder of an Indian. The kind of people who'll hang a white man for murdering an Indian– that's the kind of people for me.” – Kurt Vonnegut [Addison Wiggin] Addison Wiggin Dear Reader, Greetings from Indianapolis. Heh. Our fellow writers, and myself on occasion, might write greetings from Paris… Buenos Aires… Dubai. Depending on your perspective Indianapolis is not quite as exotic. Or, maybe, its history will suggest otherwise. The name “Indianapolis” is a mashup of “Indiana” which means “land of indians” and the Greek “polis” which means “city.” Indianapolis is “The City of Indians.” While reading up on the place, I couldn’t help but notice two things. “Indians” are factually incorrect historically and the name itself is under siege by the woke generation. Secondly, the name reminds me of an old trope our friend James Howard Kunstler used to repeat at conferences. “Why do we name places after the things that used to be there?” Jim, of course, was referring to gated communities like “Orchard Pines” and “Harbor View Terrace.” Indianapolis strikes me as a combo of the two. Will they have to rename the city like Cleveland did with their baseball team? Like D.C. did with their football team? According to Wikipedia: In 1816, the year Indiana gained statehood, the U.S. Congress donated four sections of federal land to establish a permanent seat of state government. Two years later, under the Treaty of St. Mary's (1818), the Delaware relinquished title to their tribal lands in central Indiana, agreeing to leave the area by 1821. So… the historically misnamed “Indians'' in the area had to leave. Then they named the capital city after they departed. Far be it for a rapscallion like me to point out the subtle ironies of the fair city in which I landed this morning. In 1848, eight railroads were completed and converged on the City of Indians. Antebellum it was an important destination for goods being transported West for settlers encountering… more Indians. Today, it’s the home to several global corporations including Allison Transmission and once sported 60 automakers, rivaling Detroit as a center of automobile manufacturing, which helps to explain the Indy 500. Indianapolis is also about an hour south of W. Lafayette where sits Purdue University, which has the honor of being the first “land grant” public university in the United States. Founded for, among other reasons, to educate, umn, Indians. Purdue has gone on to some fame. Drew Brees was a quarterback for the Boilermakers before winning the Super Bowl with the New Orleans Saints. Oh, and three astronauts– Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon, Eugene Cernan, the most recent man to walk on the moon, and Roger Chaffee, who famously died trying to get to the moon. Purdue is also where my second son, August, is studying animal science in hopes of becoming a vet. I’m going to see August for “Dad’s Day” at the fraternity he joined. Who knows what lies in store. That’s my weekend, hope you enjoy yours, too. Below you’ll find our musings from this week on freedom, god, Bitcoin, the Fed and Big Tech. To him, Bitcoin is a fundamentally humanitarian movement that exposes the greatest con in human history: central banking. “By learning about the connection between honest and sound money, entrepreneurship, civilization and civility, we are renewing hope for the future of humanity,” Breedlove proclaims. Then, a turn: Put several thousand into Shiba inu, the cryptocurrency token. That is what God is going to use for the wealth transfer. God is trashing the plans of the generational wicked, and many will go to jail. Worshiping the Lord is the best way to renew your mind. I bless you in Jesus Name. You might be asking what cryptocurrency has to do with the Almighty. There is a reason they are called “crypto evangelists.” They roam the land preaching the gospel of Satoshi, claiming above all that Bitcoin will remain irreverent for years to come. Perhaps more than good faith, it’s good reason. Although this year saw only a fraction of that figure– about $50.4 billion in the first two quarters– the numbers remain historically high. “I don't think Big Tech cares about recession,” my son Henry wrote to me yesterday. “They have so much money, it doesn't affect them. Infinite demand from the consumer. Plus, a stranglehold on advertising channels and chock-full of macro thinkers... Bigger than macro. They think about humanity, not profit a lot of the time.” Some might think his optimism is more a symptom of mass formation psychosis. An oft-cited statistic by the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE) claims that 70% of people who suddenly receive a windfall will lose all of it within just a few years. In January 2018, the NEFE publicly admitted the statistic was not, in fact, backed up by any of their research. Heh.
