Which is why we’re asking if 500 donors will make a donation directly to 4 trailblazing Democrats running in the races that will decide control of Congress ahead of their most important FEC deadlines of the year. ✅ Dr. Nancy Goroff would become the first woman with a PhD in science elected to Congress ✅ Dr. Brian Williams would become the first trauma surgeon and first Black doctor with the power to vote elected to Congress ✅ Lauren Underwood made history as the youngest Black woman elected to Congress and is running for re-election in a swing district ✅ Tony Vargas would become the only Hispanic educator and first-ever Hispanic elected official to represent Nebraska in Congress [Be the reason Democrats win back the House: Be the reason Democrats win back the House: Your donation will be split DIRECTLY between Rep. Lauren Underwood (IL-14), Dr. Brian Williams (TX-32), Dr. Nancy Goroff (NY-1), and Tony Vargas (NE-2).]( [DONATE »]( Dr. Nancy Goroff (NY-1) – Dr. Nancy Goroff is a chemist and the Chair of the Stony Brook University Chemistry Department who would make history as the first female PhD in science in American history to serve in Congress if she wins this key race. This is a top pickup opportunity for Democrats – President Joe Biden won the district in 2020 and it has been trending more and more Democratic in the years since. Nancy’s opponent is as extreme as they come: He supports a nationwide total abortion ban that would make exceptions based on rape, incest, and the health of the mother ILLEGAL in every state, regardless of state-level protections. --------------------------------------------------------------- . Brian Williams (TX-32) - Dr. Brian Williams is a trauma surgeon, national leader on gun violence, and Veteran running to keep the open Democratic seat vacated by Colin Allred blue. As a trauma surgeon, Brian has treated gun violence victims during mass shootings and has seen first hand the impact of gun violence on our communities. These experiences encouraged him to run for Congress so he can serve his patients to the best of his ability outside of the operating room. If elected, Brian will become the first Black physician to serve as a voting member in Congress and would be the first trauma surgeon in history to serve in Congress. Prior to 2018, Republicans used to win this district by over 20 points and Brian has what it takes to keep it blue. --------------------------------------------------------------- Underwood (IL-14) – Lauren Underwood is a registered nurse who helped the Obama Administration implement the Affordable Care Act. She made history as a first-time candidate in 2018 when she became the youngest Black woman elected to serve in Congress after unseating a Republican in what was considered a safe seat. Before she ran, Republicans typically carried this seat by 10-20 points and remained year after year, a top target of Republicans. In fact, Lauren’s re-election was so close in 2020 (within 1.4%) that the Republican originally declared victory and went to orientation for new members of Congress before Lauren was declared the winner by a razor-thin margin weeks later. Lauren has been a steadfast pro-choice champion in Congress and she’ll need our help to defend this highly competitive seat. --------------------------------------------------------------- Vargas (NE-2) – Tony Vargas is a former science teacher who won “Teacher of the Year” and got his start in politics by running for and winning a seat on the Omaha Public Schools Board before winning a seat in the Nebraska State Senate. Tony is running in a GOP-held House district that Joe Biden carried (by a wide margin in 2020!) making this one of the best pickup opportunities for Democrats in the country. His opponent supports making abortion illegal even in cases of rape and incest which is part of the reason Tony came within 6,000 votes of his GOP opponent last year. With the right resources, Tony could win this critical pickup for Democrats. Tony was the first Hispanic lawmaker elected to the Nebraska State Senate and would be the first Hispanic to represent Nebraska in Congress in history if elected. [Every single dollar raised and voter reached will be decisive in these races. Power Nancy, Brian, Lauren, and Tony to victory by donating ahead of their FEC deadlines.]( If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will be immediately processed and split between 314 Action Fund, Dr. Nancy Goroff (NY-1), Dr. Brian Williams (TX-32), Rep. Since 2017, we’ve supported more than 500+ candidates and reached millions of swing voters on their behalf with our data-driven messaging campaigns. Our candidates led the charge to flip the House in 2018, the Senate in 2021, and a handful of state legislatures in 2022. Now, there are more scientists in office than at any point in U.S. history. No one is better equipped to craft policy to address pressing issues like gun violence, climate change, healthcare reform, or restoring reproductive rights than scientific professionals. Recent polling confirms that scientific and medical professionals have some of the highest approval ratings and levels of trust among voters – Meaning our candidates are better positioned to win tough races and can cut through the partisan divide! 100% of our work is powered by individual donations and our average donation is just $19. We plan on supporting more Democratic scientists and medical professionals in virtually every state this election cycle than at any point in our history. With you by our side, we’ll defend our Senate majority, retake the House, keep the White House blue, and elect a historic wave of Democrats to state legislatures and local office.
