One is a reproductive health expert, another a former Mayo Clinic alumni, and the other is a pediatrician and all three of them are running in key races. In some states there will be no exceptions to these bans. [That’s why it’s never been more important to support pro-choice women in medicine at the state and local level to fight back, restore, and defend women’s rights.]( [It’s not just federal races. It’s governors' races, it’s state legislative races. That’s where we have to win to protect women’s fundamental rights.]( We’ve endorsed and are supporting more than 100 pro-choice women with STEM backgrounds at the state and local level. Nearly three dozen of them have backgrounds in healthcare, including nurses, pediatricians, physicians, and pharmacists. [We're going to introduce you to three of them. But before we talk about Dr. Kelly Coffman in Georgia, Dr. Aleta Borrud in Minnesota, and Dr. Lisa Reynolds in Oregon, can we ask for your help to support these three incredible women? One donation may feel inconsequential, but when thousands of donors step up and donate to local races, it can absolutely change the course of these races.]( [DONATE NOW »]( [Kelly Coffman]( Dr. Kelly Coffman (GA HD-53) – Dr. Kelly Coffman is a Georgia physician who specializes in reproductive psychiatry, where she treats and helps pregnant women and mothers with postpartum depression. There are few people more qualified than Kelly to speak to just how dangerous the abortion ban signed into law in Georgia is for women. Georgia already has one of the worst rates of maternal mortality in the country and is one of only 12 states to refuse to expand Medicaid. Kelly is running to change that and be a powerful advocate for women and women’s health in the GOP-controlled Georgia state legislature. She was inspired to run for office while pregnant with her third child in a battleground district with no incumbent that many experts consider will be one of the most competitive races in all of Georgia because her commitment to serve her patients goes beyond the doctor’s office. --------------------------------------------------------------- [Aleta Borrud](. Aleta Borrud (MN SD-24) –Dr. Aleta Borrud is a former geriatrician and hospitalist who worked at the Mayo Clinic until 2016 before leaving to pursue activism on behalf of the healthcare needs of struggling rural communities. She has also been an environmental activist, working with farmers to adopt carbon-storing regenerative agricultural practices and served as a Medicaid social worker as part of her efforts to help in-need Minnesotans. In 2020, Aleta lost to Republican Carla Nelson by just 909 votes in this battleground district. If Democrats flip just 2 seats in the 67-seat Minnesota Senate, they’ll flip control from Republicans to Democrats and many experts agree this could be the best pickup opportunity in the entire state. --------------------------------------------------------------- [Lisa Reynolds](. Lisa Reynolds (OR HD-34) – Dr. Lisa Reynolds is a pediatrician of over 20 years who ran for office for the first time because she felt she could better serve Oregon children as an elected official in office compared to the exam room. Since being elected to the state legislature, Lisa has been a leading force who successfully passed legislation to address gun violence, the climate crisis, quality of childcare, women’s health and so much more. Republicans only need to flip a handful of seats to win control of the Oregon House and are making a substantial investment targeting newly elected state legislators like Lisa. [One donation might not seem like it will make a difference or overcome millions in spending by the GOP. But when thousands of you step up and donate, especially for races that are expected to be decided by razor-thin margins, it is going to make all the difference.]( If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will be immediately split between 314 Action Fund, Kelly Coffman in Georgia, Aleta Borrud in Minnesota, and Lisa Reynolds in Oregon: [CHIP IN $10 IMMEDIATELY »]( [CHIP IN $25 IMMEDIATELY »]( [CHIP IN $50 IMMEDIATELY »]( [CHIP IN $100 IMMEDIATELY »]( [CHIP IN $200 IMMEDIATELY »]( [CHIP IN ANOTHER AMOUNT »]( Thank you, 314 Action Fund PAID FOR BY 314 ACTION FUND, 314ACTION.ORG, NOT AUTHORIZED BY ANY CANDIDATE OR ANY CANDIDATE'S COMMITTEE. [Click here to unsubscribe from 314 Action's Email List]( 314 Action is a grassroots community of over 6 million people working to elect Democratic scientists at all levels of government who will use science and facts to address some of our most pressing issues from climate change and gun violence to health care and protecting the environment. To date, we've flipped five U.S. Senate seats from red to blue, including drafting both Mark Kelly and John Hickenlooper to run, helped Democrats flip the House in 2018 by electing eight Democrats in red to blue districts, and secured more than six dozen state legislative victories -- All with an average donation of $18. The best way we can build on the progress we've achieved and empower President Joe Biden's science-first agenda is to defend our razor-thin majorities in the House and Senate, which is why we're targeting 68 Senate, House, Gubernatorial and statewide races ahead of 2022. We're creating political consequences for the Republicans who disavow science, deny the reality of climate change, and spread conspiracy theories as a result.
