My GOP opponent co-sponsored a no-exception abortion ban that lacked exceptions for rape, incest, and to save the life of the mother even in emergency situations. Now, most of the 600,000 women in Iowa of reproductive age will not be able to access abortion care in-state. My Republican opponent – who originally won this highly competitive House seat by a margin of just 6 votes – actually voted to enact this very ban as a member of the State Legislature. [I’m running to replace her so we can elect a pro-choice majority in the House – one that will ACT to protect abortion access in Iowa and across the nation. Can I count on you to split a donation between my campaign and our friends at 314 Action before midnight so we can flip Iowa’s 1st Congressional District?]( When my opponent served in the Iowa State Legislature, she co-sponsored a no-exception abortion ban that lacked exceptions for rape, incest, and to save the life of the mother even in emergency situations. I was outraged then and I’m even more outraged now – To see her work come to fruition and for women across the state to be denied the freedom to choose, the freedom when to start a family, and the freedom to decide what medical options they can pursue in the best interest of their health. I’m not alone: A recent poll in this district showed that voters by a razor-thin margin preferred a pro-choice Democrat to represent them in Congress. This is consistent with other polling we’ve seen: This is a tied-race and whoever can reach more voters will win. Which means we need a BIG showing today if we’re going to compete and pull-ahead: [That’s why I’m asking you to donate so we can flip this ultra-competitive House district blue and secure a pro-choice majority that will ensure that EVERY woman – regardless of state – has the freedom to choose.]( If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will be immediately processed and split between 314 Action Fund and Christina Bohannan. To date, we've flipped five U.S. Senate seats from red to blue, including drafting both Mark Kelly and John Hickenlooper to run, helped Democrats flip the House in 2018 by electing eight Democrats in red to blue districts, and secured more than six dozen state legislative victories -- All with an average donation of $18. The best way we can build on the progress we've achieved and empower President Joe Biden's science-first agenda is to defend our razor-thin majorities in the House and Senate, which is why we're targeting 68 Senate, House, Gubernatorial and statewide races ahead of 2022. We're creating political consequences for the Republicans who disavow science, deny the reality of climate change, and spread conspiracy theories as a result.
