Wade.]( As a result: 1 in 3 women of reproductive age now live in a state with an active abortion ban. 1 in 5 women travel out of state – some hundreds of miles – to receive abortion care. The mortality rate is nearly 3x higher in states with abortion bans than in states with abortion access. [This November we’re going to oust the Republicans who made this a reality, restore reproductive access for millions, and elect more pro-choice women in healthcare than have EVER been elected in U.S. history. Donate today (and have your donation matched) to make that a reality.]( Due to years of Republican organizing, tens of millions of dollars in spending, and Court-packing under Republicans like Trump and McConnell, the right to choose has been stripped away from tens of millions of women since the Dobbs decision. And Republicans want to go further: Idaho is suing to give red states the power to deny life-saving abortions to women in life-or-death situations. A majority of Republicans in the House support legislation that would restrict IVF access. And the groups behind the Dobbs decision are already lobbying for contraception to be next. But state by state and year by year, we’re codifying the protections of Roe v. Wade into law, expanding upon those protections, and increasing support for women in the two dozen states with virtually no access and no exceptions (even in cases of life-threatening complications, rape, incest, and fetal viability). Electing pro-choice women with backgrounds in healthcare makes a massive difference. And it’s one of the best tools we have to fight back: Our Democrats in Nevada, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, and Michigan won key state legislative victories securing abortion access protections in those states. Chamber control in each of those states was decided by 5 seats or fewer – some by 1% of the vote. Our Democrats in red states like Montana, Ohio, and Kentucky lobbied around the clock for ballot measures to protect abortion access and override statewide bans and restrictions. They succeeded. And as many as TWELVE states could have abortion ballot measures on the ballot this November, from Arizona to Florida. Generations of women spent YEARS fighting to get the Roe v. Wade decision in 1973. We owe it to the future generations of women to fight NOW and harder than ever to win back those rights and expand upon them so they don’t have to have this same fight. 314 Action is supporting a historic slate of more than ONE HUNDRED pro-choice women in healthcare who are running for office in the races that will decide control of Congress, state legislatures, and abortion rights in several states with restrictions. [Our ability to elect them depends 100% on individual donations (our average donation is just $17). Can we count on you to donate today so we can elect more pro-choice women with backgrounds in healthcare to office than EVER in our history?]( If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will be immediately processed. We can’t do this work alone and our candidates are so thankful for your support, 314 Action  314 Action is the only national organization working to elect Democrats with backgrounds in science and medicine at ALL levels of government – from the Senate down to local school boards. Since 2017, we’ve supported more than 500+ candidates and reached millions of swing voters on their behalf with our data-driven messaging campaigns. Our candidates led the charge to flip the House in 2018, the Senate in 2021, and a handful of state legislatures in 2022. Now, there are more scientists in office than at any point in U.S. history. No one is better equipped to craft policy to address pressing issues like gun violence, climate change, healthcare reform, or restoring reproductive rights than scientific professionals. Recent polling confirms that scientific and medical professionals have some of the highest approval ratings and levels of trust among voters – Meaning our candidates are better positioned to win tough races and can cut through the partisan divide! 100% of our work is powered by individual donations and our average donation is just $19. We plan on supporting more Democratic scientists and medical professionals in virtually every state this election cycle than at any point in our history. With you by our side, we’ll defend our Senate majority, retake the House, keep the White House blue, and elect a historic wave of Democrats to state legislatures and local office.
