The House of Representatives have waded into the thorny directive issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) regarding the directive mandating financial institutions to levy charges on cash-based transactions.
The newly-introduced charges on bank deposit by the CBN commenced on Wednesday, September 18.
It was gathered that the objective of the âtransaction feesâ is to give vent to the Central Bankâs policy designed to reduce cash in use. [Read more](

EFCC arrests 25 suspected varsity Yahoo boys
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested 25 students of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH). The students were arrested for their involvement in various forms of cybercrime including romance scam and love scam. Further, the students stand accused of illegal possession of forged documents, and obtaining money by false pretense.
Operatives of the Advance Fee Fraud Unit of the EFCC, Abuja Headquarters, made the arrests in Ogbomosho, Oyo State. [Read more](

World Bank in talks with Nigeria for fresh $2.5 billion loan
The World Bank and Nigeria are in talks for as much as $2.5 billion in a new tranche of concessionary lending to Africaâs most populous country, Vice President for Africa, Hafez Ghanem said.
In the past year Nigeria received $2.4 billion from the World Bank, Ghanem said in an interview in Abuja, on Wednesday, September 18.

On Wednesday, the Gauteng High Court in South Africa, found Ediozi Odi, a Nigerian national, guilty of human trafficking. The court sentenced him to the ultimate maximum sentence allowed six life terms and an additional 129 years.

Two Belgian Air Force pilots ejected from their F-16 fighter before it crashed in northern France after snagging a house roof, with one left suspended by parachute cord from a high-voltage electrical wire.
