Scientists: There is no "gay gene"
There is no specific gene for homosexuality. But there is a mix of genetic and environmental factors that influence sexual behaviour. This is according to a new study published in the respected Science magazine.
Scientists have examined the genetics of nearly half a million people. They have all reported for themselves whether they have experienced sexual behaviour with a gender of the same sex. No genetic pattern has been identified that could be used to meaningfully identify a person's sexual orientation or behaviour. [Read More](

Ebola death toll in east Congo outbreak climbs above 2,000
The death toll from Democratic Republic of Congo's year-long Ebola outbreak has climbed above 2,000, government data showed on Friday, as responders battle to overcome community mistrust and widespread security problems.

Nike's self-lacing Apple Watch shoe will tighten or loosen just by ordering Siri
The self-lacing shoe has been a dream of sneaker nuts since Back To The Future 2 and with Nike Adapt Huarache they are now pretty much reality. Not only do they tighten and loosen themselves, they do so via voice command and/or from your future-o-matic wrist controller. Or 'via Siri or Apple Watch' to put in your puny human tongue.
Nike has had a few stabs at a self-lacing shoe, with the most recent being the Nike Adapt BB 'smart shoes'. Adapt Huarache uses the same FitAdapt tech as them but 'adapts' it for street wear instead of playing basketball. [Read More](

iPhone attack shock: Google issues 1 billion Apple users with critical security warning
Appleâs security vulnerabilities are headline news all over again. Just days after its highly-publicized emergency iPhone patch, Googleâs security researchers have published a new "website hack" warning that is a hammer blow to the locked down security reputation of the Cupertino tech giant. Worse, the warning came the very day the iPhone 11 launch was confirmed. And as security warnings go, this one is serious. [Read More](

The IPOB attack on Ekweremadu: Shame on Ndi-Igbo - Dan Agbese
I have read some indigestible pieces in defence of the mindless attack on Senator Ike Ekweremadu by Nnamdi Kanuâs IPOB members at Nuremberg, Germany, where he gave a speech at the Second Annual Cultural Festival and Convention organised by Ndi-Igbo last week. The attackers must have a warped sense of history â remember Nuremberg post WWII. However hard anyone may try, the attack and the humiliation could neither be excused nor justified on any but insane grounds. The former deputy senate president did not deserve that level of hostility and physical attack on his person from his own people. [Read More](

Study finds menopausal HRT drastically increases breast cancer risk
Research published in The Lancet has found that women taking hormone replacement therapy (HRT) to mitigate the symptoms of menopause for longer than a year have a significantly higher risk of breast cancer than menopausal women who have never taken HRT.
Breast cancer risk is twice as great if HRT is taken for more than five years and although the risk does decline once HRT is stopped, a heightened risk remains ten years after patients have stopped taking the therapies, compared to women who have never taken HRT. [Read More](

Heart health: Focus on healthful foods rather than diet type - Study
The human heart is as essential to his existence as his breathe. New research finds that the type of diet a person follows is not as important as simply making sure it includes healthful foods. Such as low intake of carbs, fatty and sweetened foods.
When it comes to cardiovascular health, the type of diet is less important than 'simply eating healthful foods,' researchers say. [Read More](
