This year, 24 artists from 14 countries will “rethink the image”, presenting traditional techniques and artificial intelligence, seizing on historical and popular sources, and exploring both the personal and universal. The festival’s main lineup of emerging European photographers is accompanied by Focus on Ukraine, with work by Maryna Brodovska, Lisa Bukreyeva, Yevheniia Laptii and Dima Tolkachov. A little closer to home this week, we took a look at the newly-opened [Francesca Goodman and Julia Margaret Cameron: Portraits to Dream]( at London’s National Portrait Gallery. The show is, Eliza Goodpasture writes, “remarkable in that it explicitly rejects biographical readings of these artists and their work, readings which often swallow the appraisal of art by women”.
