They would have you believe that our founders wanted Christianity to be completely absent from all forms and institutions of government. The truth of the matter is that, over time, we have allowed secularists, humanists, atheists, and infidels to pervert our Constitution into something our founding fathers never intended. Take a look at this quote from Benjamin Franklin, who wasn’t even a Christian. He was a Deist:  “I have lived . . . a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth—that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without his aid? We have been assured . . . in the sacred writings, that ‘except the Lord build the House they labour in vain that build it.’”  In fact, it was Ben Franklin who suggested that the Constitutional Convention should seek God’s blessing in an opening prayer at every session!  When I think about truths like this and contrast them with the utter contempt for and avoidance of any semblance of Christian thought by today’s governing leaders, I am both amazed and disgusted. As a nation, we have turned slowly away from the God who “governs the affairs of men” and relied instead on our own understanding. Look where it has got us: - Since the Roe v Wade ruling in 1973, an average of 600,000 babies have been murdered in the womb each year. - As of 2018, gun violence is the leading cause of death for children and teens. - Every year, excessive drinking is responsible for the deaths of more than 3,500 people under the legal drinking age. - We’ve pushed God out of our classrooms, courtrooms, and living rooms—and we are reaping the consequences. What’s the solution? We as a nation must invite Him back in. That starts with changing individual hearts and lives. And that change can only come about through the proclamation of God’s Word. [Sign the pledge to stand for Christian values in America]( If you are ready to be counted among those who wish to live the true Christian life without hesitation or apology, I invite you to sign a pledge resolving to do so. This pledge, created by the ministry of Pathway to Victory, is a simple way to show that you stand with us and believe that America is a Christian nation. Change can and will take place when we as believers take our faith seriously. [Will you stand shoulder to shoulder with me and pledge to stand for Christian values in America?]( There is hope for the future of America—and it starts with a firm resolve to shine the light of Jesus Christ.  Sharing the Truth of God’s Word, Dr. Robert Jeffress If {EMAIL} should not be subscribed or if you need to change your subscription information for 1600 Daily, [please use this preferences page](. 625 First St #183, Alexandria, VA 22314
